Confidence is a behavioural trait that can always change. You have your highs and you have lows in life. In my eyes, self-confidence is vital to living a free and happy life. In this blog, I’ll share my 5 ways to raise your self-esteem immediately so you can go about your day with excitement and ease.
1. Practise self-care
This can be done with little things like:
- Brushing your hair in the morning
- Lighting a candle
- Journaling
- Putting on an really cool outfit even if you aren’t doing much
- Meditating
- Cleaning
- Shopping
- Date for 1
Anything that you enjoy doing, eating or being, that you don’t get much time to do on day to day basis is classed as self-care. Do whatever, to prioritise yourself.

2) Be positive
Change your focus. It all starts with changing your mindset. I completely understand that it can be hard to stay ‘positive’ when you aren’t feeling it and you’ve conditioned your brain into thinking otherwise. However, if you want to improve your confidence and raise your self-esteem, your mindset much shift from this negative space of fearing judgement from others to understanding and knowing that 90% of the time people don’t give a shit. Remember that the 10% that judge you, it’s only because they are feeling bad about themselves. So to feel temporarily good, they need to put another down. That is weak behaviour!
Be positive throughout the day. Flip your thoughts. No more ‘what if’s’.
3) Practise loving yourself
When you get a spare 5 minutes, preferably as soon as you wake up or go to bed, get yourself in front of a mirror. Whether that’s when you’re brushing your teeth, doing your skincare, or changing. Look at yourself in the mirror and say 3 things you love about yourself.
This could be:
- Your eyes
- How funny you are
- How good you are at talking
- Your body
- Your smile
This will help transition your mind into believing what you say and that it’s the truth! Be kind to yourself. Nobody will ever truly appreciate you until you learn to appreciate yourself. Try this every day for 7 days and watch how your mindset improves and you let that hate you have towards yourself go.
4) Take credit for your achievements
This one is not talked about much but I see it in so many people. How many of you receive a compliment and immediately find a way to put yourself down by you saying no or finding an excuse? Also, how many of you question whether it’s genuine or not? A big NOOOOO! Take the compliments and take the credit! Many people don’t understand how much this can affect you. Some think it’s being humble by fighting a nice comment but it just puts you down subconsciously even more. Whether it’s fake or not, say thank you and feel the effects of the compliment that you should feel.
After being called beautiful or congratulated on your hard work you should feel over the moon.
5) Challenge yourself
Do something daring… fuck it! You only live once. Remember to shift your focus into thinking about what’s the best that could happen. Move away from home and travel the world for a little, quit the job you’ve wanted to and do what you truly want. Force yourself to go to the gym and work out, not giving a toss if people stare. Go outside in public with no makeup on. JUST DO IT! This is one of the best ways to increase your confidence because you’ll get to the other side where you have received the desired outcome and feel another level of satisfaction. Or you’ll reach the other end and learn a lesson. Both are successful outcomes.
So anytime you’re feeling down or as though you aren’t good enough, please follow these 5 tips to raise your self-esteem and watch your old self transform into something magical.
