7 Areas Of Your Life To Set Goals In

Hello hello,

Having trouble setting attainable goals? Or are the objectives you set not producing the desired results? Please continue reading, as this blog is for you! Here are 7 aspects of your life that you should concentrate on when making goals. As we reach autumn, there is no better time than now to let go of old ties and beliefs in order to make room for new ones to carry us through the rest of the year. One of my strengths is the ability to set and achieve realistic goals. There’s no better feeling than ticking it off!

Areas to set goals in:

1. Spiritual

What the hell is a spiritual goal, you’re probably thinking? You don’t have to be a hippie and all voo doo to set a goal in this area. However, I think it’s very important that spiritual goals are set. It’s key to living a free, genuine, and true life. In previous blogs, I’ve spoken about how important it is to have spiritual aspects in your life.

Examples of spiritual goals are:

  • Spreading kindness (things as little as engaging in conversations with the elderly, giving compliments to strangers, etc.)
  • Charity work – helping people who are less fortunate than you are
  • Give back to nature (planting seeds and looking after the environment)
  • Practising yoga/meditation (allowing yourself to surrender to your true identity)
  • Set aside 1 hour a day to pray and connect with god/higher power

Since lockdown, I’ve always wanted to join a yoga class and give myself the opportunity to release and energise myself by moving my body. I made a list of 2023 goals at the beginning of the year, and this was one of them. By February, I had completed it, and I still practise yoga to this day and have really improved.

2. Personal development/Self-love

Even as I’m writing this, I get excited to discuss self-love and personal development goals. It’s incredibly satisfying to see yourself improve and grow, especially when you measure it through objectives. Everyone is at a different point in their journeys, which is the most beautiful thing. In today’s society, especially with the Tiktok trend of self-growth and manifestations, it is easy to compare yourself to someone who you believe is on a similar journey as you. This is a powerful reminder that everyone is unique and has had different life experiences. These goals will always be highly subjective.

Examples of this include:

  • Talking to yourself with love
  • Learning to say no without guilt following you
  • Working on your ego and accountability
  • Learning a new skill
  • Improving time management
  • Cultivating resilience (never giving up)

Something very personal to me was that 2022 was a difficult year. I had gotten out of a very toxic relationship and truly lost myself. My goal, which I had listed as my top priority, was to find myself and my identity again. The biggest issue I had, which led me into a lot of situations, was not being able to say no. I’d allow guilt and manipulation to suppress my emotions. Finally, I have learned it, and you gain the most respect from others when you set your own boundaries. That in itself is a form of self-love.

3. Relationships

A lot of us can relate to this one. We all have goals in our relationships and things we want to change. Relationships with our partners, family, friends, coworkers, etc. But the majority would never think to sit down and figure out a goal they want to work towards.

Examples:

  • Giving more time and affection to your partner
  • Improving your relationship with parents
  • Better communication with your coworker so that they know the small comments irritate you
  • Being vulnerable and letting go
  • Making your partner a priority

One of my personal goals a few weeks ago was to just open up! To stop being so reserved and surface-level with my partner. It’s taken a lot of courage to break through the fear, pride, and ego, but I’m getting there. Already, our relationship has levelled up just based on communication and allowing him to really understand what’s going on in my head.

4. Career

For ambitious people, careers can be a top priority. Career goals are so important, regardless of your line of work. Most people set goals in the career department instead of any other area. Again, these goals change completely depending on your area of work.

Examples:

  • Becoming an expert in your field
  • Earning a promotion
  • Earning a new degree
  • Shifting to a new career path
  • Gain experience in the field you want to go into
  • Network – Speak to 5 different people who can help

My biggest goal was to land my first TV commercial by the age of 17. I did that! I used to dream about it, and I had this goal since I was 15 years old. Every year, I realised I hadn’t checked it off, and I made a point of adding it to my goals for the next year. Then finally, when I just turned 17, I got my first big TV commercial for GHD hair.

5. Financial

We all have financial goals. Money allows you to see and do a lot. It’s very important to dream big but to also make it realistic.

Examples:

  • Paying off debt
  • Buying a home
  • Saving for travelling and retirement etc
  • Feeling financially secure

6. Health

Another popular goal category is health. Natural cures are available, gut health has gained recognition, and people wish to lose or gain weight. Check out my mum’s book; she discusses health and wellness, both physically and emotionally.

Examples include:

  • Create a morning routine you love
  • Losing or gaining a certain amount of weight
  • Getting 8 hours of sleep
  • Drink a certain amount of water
  • Maintain a cheerful and hopeful outlook on life

7. Free time and Hobbies

Making time for yourself and engaging in hobbies are important. It may seem unnecessary for you to set goals for them because you shouldn’t take it seriously, but in my opinion, you should. Free time and hobbies are great ways to unwind and relax. It’s ok for the goals to be less ambitious than, say, your work or finances.

Examples:

  • Start a new hobby
  • Read 10 pages a day
  • Meet up with friends
  • Travel somewhere you’ve always wanted to go
  • Spend more time with your loved ones
  • Changing your wardrobe to your desired style

I made a goal at the start of the year to finish ‘Healing Is the New High by Vex King’. Normally, I read books quickly, but I kept putting this one off. I restarted the book four times the previous year because I kept losing track and wasn’t paying attention. Although it’s an amazing book, it can be challenging to read. I finally finished the book in February, and it was excellent! You feel so accomplished for completing something you’ve been putting off for a long time, and you’re so happy with the new knowledge you’ve gained.

So these are the 7 key areas to set goals in. Remember to make your goals realistic, specific, and time-measurable. It is key to achieving these goals. You can make notes on these in a journal. Also, find somebody who can hold you accountable for it. It’s so important to work on these areas daily to ensure you achieve them. When you set specific goals, big or small, it gives you a reason to get up in the morning, which ultimately makes life more exciting.
