Are you in need self-care day but always put it off due to a lack of time and money? No problem! Here is a self-care day for you on a budget.
Self-care is important!
Self-care is key in the self-development process. It is often a task that is neglected because of two common excuses: ‘I have no money’ and ‘I have no time’. Throw these statements in the bin. You can make time and it doesn’t have to be an expensive process. Of course, if you would like to do more pricey activities then that too can be a form of self-care. My point is, it doesn’t always have to involve treating yourself to a Fendi bag or a spa day. Boys, this is for you too. It is usually perceived as a ‘girly’ thing, however, it contributes to the process of learning to love yourself.
Self-Care Day On A Budget Ideas:
1. Get up early.
Set that alarm clock and get up early. As mentioned in my previous blog, starting your day right is so important. I can’t stress it enough. You want to make the most of the day and laying in bed until noon will not help you. Do those morning rituals that will change your life. If you haven’t read that blog then click me! These exercises won’t take you longer than 45 minutes, but those 45 minutes will change your whole mindset for the day and the frequency you’ll be on will be indescribable.
2. Get dressed.
Whether that’s dressing up in a nice outfit or putting some cosies on and lounging. Get dressed. Whatever makes you feel ready. Do your hair, put some makeup on, and spray your favourite perfume or aftershave. By simply getting dressed, it puts you in the right headspace and you automatically feel so much better. Laying around in smelly clothes doesn’t make you feel wonderful. In case nobody has told you, put on that outfit you’ve been wanting to wear. Every day is important as they make up your past, present and your future. You want them to be unforgettable.
3. Make yourself a nice breakfast.
Make some yummy breakfast. Or you can treat yourself to a nice brunch or breakfast to go. Grab a coffee. Food is happiness and we can all agree on that haha!
4. Exercise.
At some point, incorporate exercise into your day. It really helps with stress and it gets your body moving. If you don’t usually exercise much, now is the time to start. Even if it’s just once a week to start with. Get up and do it. You could go to the gym and do a good cardio session, go on a walk with a friend or with your dog. Even better you could go alone. Do a home workout or some yoga and pilates. It could even be a dance around blasting your favourite music on your own and having a mini rave. That’s one of the best forms of exercise, you’d be surprised!
5. Do an activity.
Do some sort of activity. This could be:
- Going on a drive and listening to music
- Getting your nails done
- Shopping
- Getting your hair done
- Going to a cafe and getting on with any side hustle or admin work
- Movie marathon day at home
- Read
- Meet a friend
- Have a bath
You can do whatever you want just something that makes you feel most alive. Something you enjoy doing but never really have the time or chance to do.
6. Have a relaxing evening.
Finally, spend the evening relaxing. Go for a nice bubble bath and have a glass of wine. Put some comfy clothes on and get into bed. Read or watch a funny film or do some evening meditation. This form of self-care is done with no budget as you don’t spend a thing! Make sure you switch your phone off 20 minutes before you go to bed to help you get the best sleep. Sit there and deep all the wonderful things you have accomplished and all the challenges you thought you’d never be able to overcome. YOU DID IT! Love yourself like there’s no tomorrow and appreciate the wonderful life you live, even if it comes with difficult challenges. You are given another day on this beautiful earth so be thankful.
What My Self Care Days Consist Of:
7 am
- Get up, brush my teeth, sit on my bed and do my morning ritual to the best of my ability. Truly feel every emotion and never judge them.
8 am
- I get in the shower and do my skincare. Put some makeup on and get dressed ready for the day. (Usually in a cute gym fit).
9 am
- Take my vitamins, ginger shots and make some breakfast. Sometimes I’ll have avocado on toast with a fried egg, a smoothie or porridge with dark chocolate and peanut butter drizzled on top.
11 am
- Go to the gym and work out for about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on what I’m working on. Blast music on the way to the gym. (Summer Walker obvs if I’m in my feels)
12 pm
- Sit in a cafe and get on with any admin work. Catch up on any dm’s and missed emails. Sort out my finances and diary. Make sure I don’t double book myself because I’m excellent at doing that.
2 pm
- Buy myself a bubble tea hehehe cuz i’m baddddd 🙂
2:30 pm
- Drive back home and cuddle Casper (my dog for those unaware). I’ll Clean my room and clean the house a little so my mum makes me the favourite child of the week. If it is not raining I’ll clean the cars too.
4 pm
- Dog walk in the fields.
5 pm
- Watch an episode of anything I’m currently watching. Or put on a movie while I wait for my bath to run.
6 pm
- Go for a bath and inhale too many bubbles because I can’t get the balance right lol. Relax and allow my muscles to rest from the gym session. Put some spa music on and just sit and relax or finish off the movie.
7 pm
– Get dressed in fluffy clothing and go and have some yummy homemade dinner.
8 pm
– Have some family time. Tell my mum about my day and listen about hers. Have a giggle and a catch-up.
9 pm
– Light some candles in my room, put my humidifier and salt lamp on and get into bed and read. I am currently reading MY BODY – EMILY RATAWJOSKI. (Really worth the read btw).
10 pm
– Switch my lights off and have a good 8 hours of sleep before I start another day
I usually do this as a weekly ritual. Of course, each week may differ with activities but as I’ve said above…a self-care day can most definitely happen on a budget. All you must sacrifice is some time to work on yourself. Since I started doing these self-care days, my mood and just overall happiness has definitely improved. I highly recommend it!
Let me know how you get on in the comments below.
