Skincare Routine For Glowy And Radiant Skin

Hello and welcome to my skincare blog ❤️

Getting the right skincare routine is such a pain, and I know how frustrating it can be. Trial and error is the honest answer. It has taken me almost 4 years to find the perfect skincare routine that works with my skin. I’ve always had very sensitive skin, and especially because of my job, so many different products go on and just break me out. During campaigns, multiple looks and outfits are done, which means constantly rubbing makeup off with a makeup wipe and the makeup artist reapplying it. A lot of products leave burn marks or some irritation. No joke. For ages, I thought I was allergic to shower water because every time, my skin would feel itchy (only on my face) and it would just peel away. Then, 3 days later, a huge burn would show up. I am extra sensitive around my eye area. Maturing made me realise I was just taking a boiling hot shower, which was literally cooking my skin. Girlies, here’s a reminder to turn the temperature down!

My skin issues

So, as I mentioned above, I have struggled with sensitive skin. Being a model, I constantly have new products on my face, and sometimes I’ll get a big flare-up, which could affect other jobs you’ve booked, so it’s so important to find a good routine you can use on days like that. My skin issue has always been those small, little under-the-skin bumps that look more prominent in certain lighting. Really tiny bumps, almost skin texture.

I spent the 2020 lockdown researching the crap out of skincare, products, and ingredients and came to the self-diagnosed conclusion that they were small closed comedones. So my whole life, I thought I had dry, irritated skin. I went for a skin dialysis at the spa once, and they told me my skin is actually a combination of dry and oily. So I was using heavy, thick moisturisers and hydrating cleansers for my skin, but that wasn’t actually the cause of my dryness or flakiness. This is what caused my skin to have tiny mini bumps all over my cheeks and forehead that you could only see in certain light.

Morning skincare routine:

Cleanser:

Elemis Superfood Pumpkin Cleanser. It contains AHA, which is supposed to be a good but gentle exfoliant for small bumps. This is one of my favourite cleansers I have used before, as it is so soft and buttery on your skin. Plus the glow after it!!!!! It’s more expensive, but I haven’t had any skin irritation at all from it. It feels very mild.

Serum:

Cosrx Snail Mucin: I tried it when I was influenced on TikTok back during lockdown by this one girl. I’m sceptical about trying out trending products because I always feel like it’s just a way of earning money. This, though, has worked really well for me personally. It’s gentle on my skin, and I only put a little bit on. It hasn’t broken me out, and it really helps me get a healthy glow.

Moisturiser:

Weleda Skin Food Light: I used to use the heavy one, but that started the breakouts as it was too heavy for my skin. The light version suits me much better, and when I tell you, you look radiant. It’s the perfect skin prep before makeup. It makes your makeup go on so flawless.

Eye cream:

Elemis Superfood Matcha Eye Dew: Now, eye creams are expensive, as we all know. I have spent so much on eye creams. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed my undereyes are quite dry. And it flames up quickly. So, I have tried so many eye creams and spent so much money trying to find a solution to them. I first tried the Elemis Superfood range in a gift set. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t feel like you have anything on. It’s more of a gel than a cream. Another favourite of mine is the Ole Hedrickson Banana Eye Cream. This eye cream felt so good! It had a nice consistency, and it always leaves your under eyes feeling nourished.

SPF:

La Roche Posay-Invisible Fluid: The only SPF that I’ve tried that doesn’t break you out or leave a white cast. I like it; it’s light and is factor 50, so I know my skin is safe.

Tools:

Gua Sha: Typically, I would apply a moisturiser or serum to my skin so the tool glides easier. It feels so good, and, to be honest, it makes you feel like a baddie. It’s great for lymphatic drainage if you’re a puffy babe in the morning. (I am, especially after a sushi night.).

Facial Roller: I love the roller more as I find it easier to use.

Tip: If you put your roller or gua sha in the fridge in the morning, it will wake you up, and it feels amazing on your skin. I do this every day for a couple of minutes, and boy, you wake up!

Evening skincare routine:

Cleanser:

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm: If I have been wearing makeup, just got back from set, travelled, etc., I’ll usually double cleanse. I start off by taking my eye makeup off by using micellar water and a cotton pad. Then, I go in with the Elemis cleansing balm. I have been obsessed with this stuff for years! It’s so good. It’s hyped now, and it’s genuinely worth the money. I then go in with CERA Ve Foaming Cleanser, which has been a game changer! Your skin feels clean after.

Note: I usually don’t double cleanse, only if I’ve been wearing makeup or if my skin is feeling a little dirty.

Treatment

Acnecide Benzoyl Peroxide: This is really what transformed my skin! I started using this around 7 months ago or so, and wow! My skin has changed completely. All the small bumps have gone. I use this every evening, and then I make sure I put a nice moisturiser on because it can dry your skin out. It also bleaches!!! My gorgeous new bedsheets are white!

Serum

Cosrx Snail Mucin

Moisturiser:

Weleda Skin Food Light

Eye cream:

Elemis Superfood Matcha Eye Dew

Face masks:

Elemis Superfood Berry Boost Mask & Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask: 1-2 times a week. I will usually put this on during my self-care days and when I’m in the bath. The hydrating one is my favourite. It’s so gorgeous and sits on your skin so nicely. Makes you glow! I used it on my boyfriend during our pamper sessions, and he said all he got from work colleagues the next day were compliments about how healthy and dewy his skin looks! It does genuinely work wonders.

So, if you’re feeling down about your skin and not sure how to change it, know that it’s only temporary, and if you keep at it, you can change it! It can be an expensive process, but that feeling when you finally crack the code and get the right routine for your dream skin—there’s no better feeling than that. Think of it as an investment in yourself! It’s so worth it. Do your research, speak to people, and make sure you keep tabs on what has worked for you and what hasn’t. Most of all, don’t give up, and know you are beautiful regardless! Your skin doesn’t ever define you or your beauty.
